Treasures For Tomorrow Selects OU Cancer Institute for Next Public Art Project

Through its ten years of history, Treasures For Tomorrow, sponsored by the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation, has created beautification and landmark projects throughout the Oklahoma Health Center campus. In 2009 through 2011, all funds raised through the Treasures For Tomorrow event, which honors Oklahoma's Living Treasures and also from project donors, will go towards a public art project to be located at the OU Cancer Institute.

Currently under construction, the $120 million dollar state-of-the-art facility is located at NE 10th Street and Phillips Avenue in Oklahoma City on the Oklahoma Health Center campus and is set to open in 2010. The OU Cancer Institute will be a major cancer resource for cancer patients, investigators and health professionals from around the state and across the nation.

This is the second of a proposed series of campus outdoor art projects. A request for artists to participate as a potential designer of the project closed in December. The Treasures Art Committee will narrow down prospective designers to a smaller group, ask the designers to submit their creation and then they select a winning project. The Treasures For Tomorrow organizers goal is to raise $350,000 for this significant outdoor feature.
