OKC Innovates Symposium: Big Data

Wednesday, October 18 at 1 PM - 6 PM
Embassy Suites by Hilton Oklahoma City Downtown Medical Center
741 N Phillips Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104

The second OKC Innovates Symposium focused on the capability to analyze and understand the large volume of data being generated by Oklahoma City companies and research institutions.

For those of you who are new to the term “Big Data”, this symposium provided an exciting way to learn what it’s all about through a wide variety of short talks from local leaders in the field. We’ll step through the five stages of converting data to business and societal value, from acquiring data, to storing and processing it, to interrogating and modeling it, to driving value-added decision making. Each section featured speakers from across the innovation district and different industries, showing how the challenges of working with data has become something that connects us all.

For those of you who are experienced technologists, the symposium provided information about specific technologies and approaches being leveraged by local organizations, and to understand the specific business problems being addressed. By having each section of talks include discussion of an open challenge as well as current solutions, the aim for the symposium was to foster opportunities for collaboration within the community.

Attendees were given time to engage in table discussions and a lively Q&A with each panel of presenters. A networking reception followed the event.
