Free OKC Dodgers Tickets & More for All-American Blood Donors

Posted on 06/14/2017

Blood donors are invited to the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to show their patriotic spirit at Oklahoma Blood Institute’s All-American Blood Drive on Saturday, June 24, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The All-American Blood Drive is sponsored by the Oklahoma City Dodgers, and all donors will receive two tickets to a Dodgers’ game and fireworks show.  Donors will have the option to choose tickets for the July 4th game against the Iowa Cubs.  First-time donors will be entered for a chance to win a VIP experience with the OKC Dodgers, including four all-inclusive club tickets.

Every blood donor will also receive a pass for two free entries to the Oklahoma City Zoo and a “Keep It Local” T-shirt.  Free parking is available for donors in the Joe Carter lot, east of the ballpark at the corner of East Reno and Joe Carter Avenue. Shuttle service will be provided to the blood drive inside the ballpark. Free hot dogs and drinks will also be served.

“Each summer the All-American Blood Drive helps maintain the necessary blood supply for our state during a busy time of year,” OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. “We are grateful for everyone who comes out to donate and want to have them return to the ballpark and enjoy a game this season as a thank you for their generosity.”

At the OKC Dodgers game the evening of June 24,* blood recipient and Edmond Santa Fe High School assistant baseball coach Tanner Huddleston is scheduled to throw the first pitch.  Tanner, who was diagnosed with leukemia, is currently waiting for a marrow match.  Be The Match®, part of the National Marrow Donor Program®, will be on-site at the ballpark during the blood drive to sign people up for the registry.

Oklahoma Blood Institute depends on 1,200 volunteer donors a day to provide every drop of blood needed by patients in more than 160 hospitals, medical facilities and air ambulances across Oklahoma, including all metro-Oklahoma City area hospitals.

Anyone age 16 and older, and in generally good health, can typically give blood.**  To schedule an appointment at the All-American Blood Drive, call 1-877-340-8777, or visit obi.org
